Supervision Training

Foundations for Leadership

Shasta Head Start has created a Foundations for Leadership training program to take supervisors through how to effectively manage their teams. This training program has recorded trainings and handouts for each module.

Each employee that has the responsibility of supervising others is expected to view the trainings.

Module 1 – Intro to Supervision

This training provides a brief overview to Shasta Head Start’s supervision philosophy and will introduce you to the rest of the training material. It includes information on boundaries, responsibilities, and building trust within your teams.

Module 2 – The Leadership Lens

This module explores how our unique experiences and upbringing can shape the way we react in certain situations.  We will explore why it is important to understand that you have a perspective, and how that perspective influences how you lead others.

Module 3 – The Thought Model

This module is all about how we transition from our leadership lens, our unique set of perspectives, values, and beliefs, to The Thought Model. The Thought Model looks at how we can change the results we get from any circumstance by changing our thoughts, feelings, and actions to the circumstance.

Module 5 – Accountability

Now that you have set clear and consistent expectations with your team, it is important to hold them accountable to those expectations. Our hope is that this module gives you the framework and the tools to view accountability as a productive, kind, and necessary part of your supervision journey.

Module 6 – One On One Practice

In previous modules we have talked about an overview of leadership and supervision, our Leadership Lens, the Thought Model, setting Expectations, and Accountability.  Not it is time to put all of these things together into our 1:1 Practice. The 1 on 1 practice might be the single most effective tool for you to lead your teams well.

Module 7 – Coaching Algebra

This module helps the supervisor to diagnose and address any performance struggles members of their team may be having.  After watching this module, supervisors will be able to evaluate skill set and mind set, and address each of these accordingly.
