Education Requirements & Resources

Shasta Head Start requires every employee to meet the education and license/certification requirements of their position. If an employee has not met those requirements before being hired or promoted, they will be issued a Plan of Action (POA) on their first day in their new role.

A Plan of Action is a document that lists out the exact requirements needed to meet the accepted position’s qualifications. It will list requirements such as courses, degrees, and/or permits and will have a due date for the requirements to be met. Once reviewed, the employee, Area Manager, and Human Resources Training & Development Coordinator will all sign off. The signed POA will be delivered back to the employee, their supervisor, and their Area Manager. The direct supervisor is responsible for monitoring the employee’s progress. Employees with incomplete POAs may be subject to disciplinary action.

Unqualified employees needing college courses are asked to enroll in the next available semester and remain continuously enrolled until qualified. Listed below are the next semester’s available ECE courses from various schools, including the category they would meet (e.g., Infant/Toddler, Child Growth & Development, etc.).
