7.5.3.2.1
401(k) Eligibility
In order to be eligible to participate in Shasta Head Start’s 401(k) plan, employees must be at least 21 years old and have completed one year of service with at least 1,000 hours of service. Eligible employees will be able to participate the first day of the quarterly open enrollment period (January, April, July, & October) following their eligibility.
Example: John Doe is 22 years old and was hired on 09/21/2015. Assuming he completes the 1,000 hours of service requirement, he would be eligible to begin contributing on 10/01/2016.
Employees will be notified of their eligibility by the Human Resources Department. Upon eligibility, employees will receive a 401(k) packet including a letter stating eligibility information, application forms, and any necessary additional supporting documentation.
Rehires who were once deemed eligible remain eligible at time of rehire. If the rehired employee does not begin contributing on their first rehired payroll, they will have to wait until the next available quarterly open enrollment. No exceptions can be made.
Any questions or concerns regarding Shasta Head Start’s 401(k) plan should be addressed to the Human Resources Department.
