Education Stipend
Education Stipends are a sum of money awarded to a targeted job field for the completion of a course in the Fall and Spring semester of each school year. At this time the Summer and Winter semesters are not eligible for education stipends. Other job fields will be considered as funds allow. It is the sole discretion of Shasta Head Start to determine which classes are directly related to the targeted job field. Stipends are never guaranteed but it is always encouraged for those interested to apply.
Applications must be completed and submitted to the Human Resource Training & Development Coordinator and Human Resource Manager for review, within the given timeframe, before being approved. Once final decisions are made, letters will be sent to the employee with the approval or denial determination. If approved, unofficial transcripts are required to be submitted to the Human Resources Department within 30 days after the completion of the course. Stipends will be awarded upon the completion of a course with a final grade of “C” or better. Employees will receive the pre-approved stipend on the next possible payroll check after all requirements have been met. You must be employed by Shasta Head Start at the time of the stipend payment.
Shasta Head Start employees will not be eligible for both Education Stipends and QCNS Scholarships for any courses taken. Education Stipend awards will be verified against QCNS Scholarships to ensure no single course is awarded monies from both education benefit programs.
Please submit ONE application per course. Completed applications can be scanned, emailed, or interdepartmental mailed to HR.
Please direct any questions to the HR Training & Development Coordinator.
