Web Planning Process

The Web Planning process (Web Meeting) is meant to provide an opportunity for parents to be involved in the development of the program’s curriculum and approach to their child’s development and education.

Initially, the Child Development Staff completes the Web Planning Form with the parents’ input during either the Monthly Center Committee Meeting (centers) or during the Parent Meeting portion of a Home-based Social event (home-based).

During the first Parent Center Committee Meeting, parents should be trained on how to complete the Web Planning form and encouraged to participate in the development of the curriculum. Once parents are trained on the process, they may choose to complete the form themselves with guidance from the Child Development Staff.

Individual follow up can happen at home visits or during drop-off/pick-up procedures if a parent was unable to attend the Parent meeting.

The Web Planning process occurs each month during which the center is in operation and during one of the two socialization events held for home-based programs. If the center is closed during the summer months, this process would not occur.

The Web Planning Form

At the Parent Meeting, staff will provide parents with curriculum resources such as a list of themes, curriculum kits and any other resources to review. As the parents choose activities, materials or resources that they would like incorporated into the curriculum, enter them into the corresponding section of the Web Planning form. The activities identified during the meeting should be included in the lesson plan.

There are two versions of the Web Planning Form for Early Head Start and Head Start.  Both versions of the form include both English and Spanish.

Developmental domains found on the EHS Web Planning form include:

  • Approaches to Learning Self-regulation
  • Social/Emotional Development
  • Language/Literacy
  • Cognition (Math/Science)
  • Physical Development
  • Health/Dental

Developmental domains found on the HS Web Planning form include all those found on the EHS version of the form plus:

  • English Language
  • History-Social Science
  • Visual and Performance Arts
  • Physical Development & Health are combined on this version of the form

Once completed, the original Web Planning form should be kept in the lesson plan/socialization binder. Also, post a copy of the completed form in the classroom.
