Screening & Compliance Requirements
Screening and compliance requirements are in place to ensure the health and safety of the children enrolled in Head Start programs and enable early intervention. Additionally, compliance ensures continued funding from multiple resources in order to continue providing services to the community.
The screening and compliance requirements in effect at Shasta Head Start originate from multiple sources including:
- The Office of Head Start Program Performance Standards
- Community Care Licensing (CA Dept. of Social Services)
- Education Code: Title 5
- Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
Our screening and compliance requirements are organized into various increments based on a specific date or point in time, including:

- 2.5-Year-old – must be completed by the time the enrolled child reaches 2.5 years of age (30 months)
Our screening and compliance requirements fall under various program areas including:
- Health & Safety – health screenings (hearing/vision), CHDP & immunization requirements, health/nutrition plans, dental requirements
- Education – busing and pedestrian safety, ASQ3 (Developmental), ASQ-SE (Mental Health), Needs and Services Plans (EHS only), DRDP Ongoing Assessments
