Home-based Socials: Meals

A meal or snack is typically provided during Home-based social events. It is the responsibility of the Home Visitor to plan the meal or snack and ensure that it is requested in advance of the scheduled social.

  1. A meal or a snack is provided depending on the time of the social
  2. Food is provided by Head Start
    • All food must meet Head Start performance guidelines
  3. Home Visitors should submit a food request to the Cook using the Food Request Form or establish a calendar with the on-site Cook.
    • Complete and submit the food request form at least 1 week prior to the date of the social
    • Be specific when requesting food
    • Request special meals for children with food allergies
    • Remember to request ice, water, and equipment if needed
  4. Meals are to be served family-style
  5. Meals/snacks will be the same as the meal/snack being served that day or the previous day
