Closing Checklist

Refer to the checklist below when closing a SHS center. (Some items may not apply to all centers)

  1. Lock all exterior doors
  2. Put wet clothes/linens into dryer. Fold/put away clean laundry (if time permits)
  3. Clean break room and ensure coffee pot and any other appliances are turned off
  4. Collect garbage from all areas and take out (if not completed by janitor)
  5. Complete items on the Daily Center Maintenance Checklist related to closing procedures
  6. Turn off the dishwasher and other appliances as needed (e.g. bottle warmer)
  7. Lock all gates and sheds as needed (e.g. playground shed)
  8. Lock up electronics (cameras, tablets) in office
  9. Bring toys/items in from the playground as needed
  10. Set thermostat to 78 when the weather is hot; set to 68 in the winter (thermostat may be pre-programmed)
  11. Close and lock all windows; close all blinds
  12. Turn off lights – leave outside lights on
  13. Lock interior doors as needed
  14. Lock the front door and set alarm (if applicable) as you leave
