Planning Activities

Curriculum Planning

Weekly Lesson Planning Forms – Use these forms to plan activities and learning opportunities based on the goals, interests, and culture of each child in the classroom. Use Creative Curriculum, Supplementary Curriculum & resource lists to develop activities (small and Large groups), and select materials that are both engaging and developmentally appropriate for the group. Individualized activities are to be planned and documented using the appropriate tracking cycle, lesson plans, and observations.

  • Separate forms for Extended/Full Day, Partial Day and EHS classes (Infant & Toddler)
  • Complete forms on a weekly basis and at least one week in advance
  • Post the lesson plan for the current week in the class room for parents to view.
  • Keep prior and future lesson plans in lesson plan binder available for review.
  • Include WEB and Family Portrait activities.
  • All areas must be coded according to the key for developmental domains and to assure completion of required activities.
  • After first 30 days of the program, send a copy of the first month’s lesson plans to the Child Development Department.
  • Highlight IFSP/IEP goal activities in orange.

Resource Materials – There are many resources available on site for both EHS and HS to support in planning developmentally appropriate activities.  All resources can be found on the Resource Materials Lists: Early Head Start | Head Start and should be readily available at each site.  These resources have been specifically selected to support staff as they work with children and families.
