Off-Floor Planning Time
Off-floor time refers to time spent in the classroom without children present. Before school starts, and after school ends. There’s also planned time off during the school day to allow the education staff to get things done. Time varies depends on what program type working in and staffing pattern.
During this time, Education staff members should:
- Write lesson plans This is typically done collaboratively between Teacher and Associate Teacher or Primary Caregivers (weekly)
- Prepare activities (weekly)
- Rotate classroom materials (toys, displays, children’s art)
- Perform center maintenance activities
- Maintain/update child files/documentation (weekly)
- Screeners (30/45/60/90-day)
- Assessments (according to timeline)
- Observations (ongoing)
- Prepare for:
- Home visits
- Parent Conferences
- Parent Center Committee Meetings
- Child Study Team/IEP/IFSP Meetings
- Behavior Plan Tracking
- Meet with staff
- Classroom
- Family Worker
- Supervisor
- Check emails
