Center/Classroom Startup Planning

This section focuses on the activities that must occur in order to prepare the center and the classrooms for the first day of school. These activities would take place during the summer a few weeks prior to the start of school. Some activities may continue into the school year.

Activities include:

  • Preparing for a dual language learner who will be attending a program
  • Planning and facilitating an orientation event for the children and parents
  • Reviewing the child files for the children that will be in your class
  • Preparing the center/classroom environment for the start of the school year
  • Creating a classroom daily schedule
  • Developing and planning the curriculum
  • Using the ECERS and ITERS Curriculum in the classroom
  • Preparing for first Home Visits
