Application and Eligibility Meeting (First Meeting)
After the family gathers their documentation, an Application and Eligibility Meeting, commonly known as the “first meeting,” officially begins the eligibility process for a Head Start child. The purpose of this meeting is to gather the documentation needed to verify the family’s eligibility for Head Start, and to work with them to determine which program options are best for them.
After the first meeting, we enter or update the family record in ChildPlus, and verify their eligibility for various programs. A series of “priority points” are granted to the family based on their eligibility, and the family is added to the waitlist.
